On 18 July, Shandong Energy Group and Huawei jointly launched Pangu Big Mine AI model (“the Model”), the world first AI model applicable for commercial use of energy industry. The model helps to realize “separating operation management from intelligent production”, “all data are processed and reviewed inside production park only”, ”supporting scaled replication” and “learning and analyzing small samples”. And the model facilitates “two major frog-leaping developments”, which is to promote transformation from manned management to intelligent management, from passive management to active management. It powered high quality development of coal industry and even the energy sector.

Li Wei said that Huawei, as the world's leading ICT infrastructure and intelligent terminal provider, shares high degree of compatibility, complementarity and symbiosis with Shandong Energy Group's digital transformation strategy. Shandong Energy Group and Huawei jointly established a joint innovation center, built an artificial intelligence training center based on the Model, developed and implemented the first batch of 21 application scenarios, covering 9 operating activities such as mining, tunneling, main transportation and auxiliary transportation, and made a major breakthrough in the field of artificial intelligence enabling mining, which greatly helps to reduce man labors, improve efficiency, reduce labor intensity, and improve safety level. It has effectively promoted the "two big frog-leaping development", which promoting transformation of coal mine production from manual management to intelligent management, and from passive management to active management. The model marks an important milestone in the application of new infrastructure in the coal industry. Shandong Energy will further implement the instruction of President Xi Jinping on development of new-era AI and the planning and requirements of Shandong provincial government by using the joint innovation center as a platform to make comprehensive cooperation with Chinese and foreign leading enterprises and research institutes. Great efforts will be made to make exchanges and cooperation in AI application in mine, share successful experience in intelligent application so as to realize intelligentization throughout the industrial chains and the innovation chains of mine, and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of Chinese mine industry, make mining better and safer.
Zou Zhilei said that the release of the Model marks another important step in the application of artificial intelligence in the mining field, which will bring great opportunities to the mining industry. He called on the entire industry to recognize and embrace the Devops model of iterative development, keep trial and error, and eventually close to perfection. He suggested a unified standard, a unified framework, and a unified data specification should be set up to accelerate the high-quality construction of intelligent mines, and industry standards should be formulated for large mine AI models so that more mines can merit from the model.
Zhou Liwei stated that the release of the Model has opened up a new path for the construction of intelligent mines, set up a model of the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy, and will accelerate the high-quality development of the mineral resources industry. It is hoped that Shandong Energy Group will take this conference as an opportunity to further implement digital transformation and intelligent construction, make every effort to build a national first-class industrial cluster with world influence, take the lead in creating a world-class enterprise with excellent products, outstanding brands, leading innovation and modern governance, and contribute to the modernization of Shandong province in a new era as a SOE.
Zhou Dechang remarked that the the Model is an important practice to use intelligent technology to promote the modernization of the governance system and governance capacity of the mining industry, and will certainly have a positive and far-reaching influence on the intelligent construction of mines. It is hoped that Shandong Energy Group and Huawei will give full play to their respective advantages, focus on the key technologies and bottleneck problems in the intelligent construction of mines, dare to try first, bravely do the demonstration, promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and industry, and promote the comprehensive improvement of the intelligent level of mines. The National Mine Safety Administration will further increase its support for intelligent construction, expand the intelligent construction work from coal mines to non-coal mines, from mining enterprises to regulatory and supervisory departments, and power the continuous improvement of the intelligent level of the whole industry.
Shan Zhiguang said that Shandong Energy Group and Huawei should better play the role of data as a "multiplier" for economic development, a "converter" for development mode and a "booster" for industrial upgrading, consolidate the foundation of digital transformation in the mining field, accelerate the promotion of digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, and provide better solutions and better value-added paths for green low-carbon transformation and high-quality development. It will provide strong support for the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse and a digital China.
Liang Jiakun said that in recent years, Shandong Energy Group has seized development opportunities, vigorously promoted digital transformation and intelligent construction, and taken a lead in promote transformation and upgrading by use of technology innovation, showcasing the changes the situation of mine production. The release of the model is an important measure to implement President Xi Jinping’s instruction on new era of AI development, the specific procedure to promote the development of national digital economy, as well as the practice of Shandong Energy in pursuing high-quality development and establishing modern industrial system. It is hoped that universities, scientific research institutes, information technology enterprises and mining enterprises will strengthen in-depth cooperation, actively explore advanced technologies, strengthen the construction of intelligent mines, and jointly enter a new era of artificial intelligence.

In the afternoon, a sub-session on Intelligent Future of Mine was held.
