On the morning of April 1, accompanied by Ms. Chen Baiwei, Deputy Director-General of Shandong Foreign Affairs Office and Executive Vice Chair of Shandong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to China, visited SDE for a business exchange. Zhou Hong, Deputy Party Secretary, Director, and General Manager of SDE, received the delegation.
Zhou Hong provided an overview of SDE’s reforms, industrial layout, and international development. He highlighted that as one of the earliest Chinese coal enterprises to expand overseas, SDE adheres to an integrated layout domestically and internationally, establishing a "3+1" core business structure. Yancoal Australia, as SDE’s investment and industrial platform in Australia, has consistently upheld localized management, strictly complied with Australian laws and regulations, and been deeply involved into local communities. It has now become Australia’s largest independent coal producer. Zhou expressed the hope that Australia would continue to support SDE’s development in the country and engage in discussions on resource acquisition and procedure-making facilitation, thus jointly contributing to China-Australia economic and strategic cooperation.
Ambassador Scott Dewar commended SDE for its achievements in recent years. He noted that China and Australia enjoy highly-complementary economies with strong inter-dependence and a long history of cooperation in the resources development sector. He acknowledged that SDE and Yancoal Australia, as reliable resource suppliers, have made significant contributions to Australia’s economic, social, and cultural development. Australia places great importance on its economic partnership with China and its collaboration with SDE. He expressed hope that both sides would actively uphold the concept of green development and promote economic growth. He emphasized that Australia’s transparent legal system, stable financial environment, and highly-skilled workforce provide a favorable business environment for enterprises based in Australia.
The two sides also amicably exchange views on the clean and efficient utilization of coal, the development of new energy projects, and green and low-carbon initiatives.
During the visit, Ambassador Scott Dewar also toured the exhibition halls of SDE and Yunding Technology.
The event was attended by Dominic Trindade and Tim Sill from the Australian Embassy in China, relevant officials from Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, and Zhang Ruoxiang, Vice General Manager of SDE.
