On October 17th, the 13th National Mine Rescue Skills Competition, organized by the Ministry of Emergency Management, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the National Mine Safety Supervision Bureau, and Shandong Provincial Government, and co-organized by Shandong Provincial Emergency Management Department, Shandong Provincial Mine Safety Supervision Bureau, Shandong Coal Geology Bureau, and the Jining Municipal Government, concluded in Jining, Shandong Province after a 4-day practical competition.
This competition, with the theme of "Casting the Light of Life, Creating Pioneer Forces", is the largest and most comprehensive professional event in the field of mine rescue in China to date. 64 rescue teams from across the country and 700+ team members competed fiercely in 19 competition events under 4 professional groups: mines, tunnels, drilling, and drainage. During the competition, the head of international mine rescue organizations observed the competition on-site.
During the competition, the teams overcame difficulties such as slippery conditions due to rain and fought bravely in realistic scenarios, competing in terms of physical ability, skills, organizational command, and coordination operations. Among them, 28 teams including the National Mine Emergency Rescue Shandong Energy Team, the National Tunnel Emergency Rescue China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. Chongqing Team, the National Mine Emergency Rescue Shandong Special Prospecting Team, and the National Mine Emergency Rescue Sichuan Drainage Team, and 26 individuals including Zhang Jiyong, Li Xia, Li Yunfei, Mao Yikang, Wang Kai, and Yang Fuan, won the first prize. Teams and individuals with excellent results and meeting the requirements were recommended for relevant awards and honors, and the winning teams were also invited to participate in the 14th International Mine Rescue Competition in 2026.
The organizing committee of the competition advocates that all participants should deeply implement the important instructions given by general secretary Xi Jinping, uphold putting people first and life first, and transform the competition outcomes into concrete actions for safeguarding the safety of the people's lives. All participants must continuously enhance physical fitness, skills and intelligence training, and adhere to the principle of practical application to improve the professional capabilities of emergency rescue. All participants should actively utilize advanced technological equipment to promote the transformation of rescue methods towards scientific and precise directions. All participants should carry forward the spirit of heroes and models, strengthen international cooperation and exchanges in the field of mine rescue, showcase China's mine rescue and share China's mine rescue experience.
