On the afternoon of 6 September, Li Wei, Secretary of CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Chairman of Shandong Energy Group (“SDEG”), together with Zhang Baocai, Deputy Secretary of the Committee, Director and General Manager of the Group, met with Hao Fang, President of China University of Petroleum－East China (UPC) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his delegation.

Harking back on past years of cooperation between UPC and SDEG, Li Wei pointed to deep-rooted, consensus-based friendship that has been forged over the years between the two sides. He hoped that UPC would explore deep cooperation in line with SDEG’s development needs of new energy and high-end chemical industries based on principles of new cooperation mode, resource-sharing, equality and mutual benefit, especially to strengthen the cooperation in the R&D, efficient utilization, talents training in relation to new energy industries, like hydrogen, energy storage, photovoltaic and offshore wind power, so as to promote high-quality development of SDEG.

Zhang Baocai hopes that the two sides can deepen cooperation across many sectors and in an all-round way, and join forces to exemplify the enterprise-university synergic development, under the backdrop of the steady implementation of the Goal For Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality.

Hao Fang appreciated SDEG for its years-long support to UPC. He said that coming up next, UPC will take account of the actual needs of enterprises, make best of its resources, and build on itself to strengthen enterprise-university-institute cooperation. The university will also seek to rationalize talent training models and discipline systems, and move quickly to train talents tailored for SDEG, so as to create a win-win between the duo.

Other attendees include Zhou Hong, who is Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shandong Energy Committee, Auditor in Chief, and Director of CPC Shandong Energy Organization Department (Human Resources Department), Zhang Lingling, who is the Vice-President of UPC.
