Ling Wen joins the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation between SDE and Aramco

On the afternoon of December 7th, Shandong Energy Group and Saudi Aramco held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Jinan. Ling Wen, Member of the Party Group of Shandong Provincial Government and Vice Governor of Shandong, Mohammad Al-Qahtani, Senior Vice President of Downstream of Saudi Aramco and Li Wei, Secretary of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Chairman of SDE, attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.

Ling Wen said that SDE is a super large state-owned energy enterprise in Shandong Province and one of the most international enterprise across China coal industry, contributing a lot to ensuring energy security. Saudi Aramco has established extensive cooperative relations with Chinese counterparts, giving a strong boost to Shandong’s socio-economic development. He hoped that the two parties will take this ceremony as an opportunity to further expand collaboration and delve into global energy cooperation, to achieve mutual benefit and common progress.

Mohammad Qahtani said that Aramco and Shandong Energy enjoy a good foundation for cooperation with bright and broad prospects for the oil and gas development and new energy. The signing of the MoU marks significant progress in our work since the QMS in June. Meanwhile, the bilateral relationship has been strengthened, to the benefit of in-depth cooperation. Hopefully, collaboration could be further accelerated in integrated refining and petrochemicals projects to achieve mutual benefit and common development.

Li Wei said, as a mega-sized state-owned energy enterprise of Shandong Province, SDE also serves as the only enterprise in China that has been listed on four major listing platforms in both China and beyond (Shanghai, Hong Kong, Australia and New York). In addition, SDE is also the first Chinese enterprise that successfully goes global to exploit oversea resources, whose business has been expanded to more than 12 countries and regions. SDE was rated as the 69th on 2022 Global Fortune 500 List and the 5th on China Energy (Group )Top 500 List. Saudi Aramco is the largest state-owned oil company in Saudi Arabia and the world's largest integrated energy and chemicals company. As the major players and influencers in the global energy sector, SDE and Saudi Aramco share many common interests, boast strategic complementary advantages and have huge cooperation potentials. SDE will take the signing ceremony as an opportunity to strengthen the close cooperation with Saudi Aramco, accelerate the implementation of collaborative projects by jointly investing capitals, and contribute positively to strategic cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in terms of economic development.

At the signing ceremony, Mohammed Y. Al Qahtani, the Senior Vice President of Saudi Aramco, and Zhang Baocai, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee, Director and the General Manager of SDE signed the MOU on behalf of Saudi Aramco and SDE respectively.

The signing ceremony was held via a video link. Participants of the signing ceremony include Wang Jian, Deputy Secretary of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, Sun Yebao, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, Gao Changsheng, the Member of the CPC Shandong Provincial SASAC Committee and the Deputy Director of Shandong Provincial SASAC, Ma Jun, Director of the Asian Affairs Division at Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government and the Secondary Level Inspector, Yasser Muffti, Senior Vice President of Saudi Aramco, Ru Gang, the Vice General Manager and the Chief Auditor of SDE, and Liu Qiang, the Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee and the Vice General Manager of SDE.
