On the afternoon of 7 May, Li Wei, Secretary of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Chairman of SDE, met with a delegation led by Mr. Ryu Chang Soo(류창수), Consul General of South Korea in Qingdao,  to discuss possibilities for further business cooperation.

Li Wei introduced the reform and development of SDE, its international development, and economical cooperation and trade with South Korean companies. He stated that Shandong and South Korea enjoy unique geographical advantages, and the close cooperation between the two sides provides a solid foundation for Shandong companies to interact with South Korea’s counterparts. In recent years, Shandong Energy has actively promoted international business cooperation, in particular maintaining close and in-depth exchanges with South Korean companies. SDE always adheres to the principles of integrity in business operations and strict compliance with contracts, providing high-quality services and products and contributing a lot to the trade ties between the two countries. Going ahead, Shandong Energy will uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, integrate into the overall development of Shandong-South Korea economic cooperation, expand exchanges in a larger scope and broader fields, and contribute SDE’s power to the Shandong-South Korea business cooperation.

Ryu Chang Soo reviewed the achievements of economic and trade cooperation between ROK and Shandong in recent years and pointed out directions for further collaboration. He further stated that 2024 marked the 32nd anniversary of China-ROK diplomatic relation, also the 30th anniversary of the founding of ROK Consulate General in Qingdao and China and ROK have become indispensable partners for each other through collaboration and exchanges over the years. In the future, ROK Consulate General in Qingdao will stay committed to forging better ties between China and ROK, holding Shandong and ROK Forum on Collaboration and Exchanges and other relevant events, establishing the “face to face” communication mechanism for enterprises from both sides, expand the scope for cooperation, deepen the economic and trade exchanges, and elevate the Shandong and ROK relation that features friendly cooperation to a new level.

Participants of this event also include Sohn Seong Hyuk and Park Heebyung, the economic consuls of ROK Consulate General in Qingdao, the officials from Asia Affairs Division of Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, Zhang Ruoxiang, the Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Vice General Manager of Shandong Energy Group, and Ru Gang, Vice General Manager and Chief Auditor of Shandong Energy Group.
