On August 28, the 5th Qingdao Multinationals Summit for 2024 opened in Qingdao. Li Wei, Party Secretary and Chairman of SDE, led a delegation to attend the event. He met with Su Zhaohui, Special Advisor to the CEO of Glencore Group for China Affairs, Rudy Boshoff, Senior Vice President of Komatsu Mining, and Andreas Wotschel, Global Sales President of HBT.
Li Wei noted that, in recent years, Glencore has adhered to diversified multinational operation and achieved outstanding results, becoming one of the world’s leading multinational commodity producers and sellers. Particularly, our cooperation in Australia has yielded remarkable outcomes, demonstrating that both companies share convergences in values, concepts, business layout, and development strategies. He expressed the hope that both sides will revolve on high-level opening-up and the “dual carbon” goals, establish a long-term communication mechanism, and further strengthen strategic coordination, until achieving mutual benefits and win-win.
Li Wei also stated that Komatsu Joy Global is a global leader in high-efficiency mining solutions. Over the years, the two parties have built a strong partnership, sharing common goals in fully-mechanized coal mining, high-end hydraulic support structured components, cylinder and full-frame design and manufacturing. He hopes that, based on the domestic and international markets, both parties can focus on internationalization, advanced technological equipment development and application, and safe, efficient, and intelligent mine construction, to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation and contribute to high-end equipment manufacturing and the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the global mining industry.
With HBT, Li Wei noted that it is a world leader in underground coal mining systems and equipment, and a pioneer in modern longwall mining machinery. For years, HBT has provided strong equipment support for SDE’s overseas development. With a long-standing cooperation history and deep-rooted friendship, he hopes this discussion will serve as an opportunity to leverage each side's advantages in technology, industry, and resources, deepen strategic synergy, and foster complementary strengths to ensure the success of various projects.
Su Zhaohui, Rudy Boshoff, and Andreas Wotschel affirmed the long-standing strategic partnership with SDE, recognizing its robust development momentum and clear long-term goals. In particular, they see the “dual carbon” strategy as an opportunity for growth. They expressed strong desire to enhance mutual understanding, build consensus, and strengthen cooperation in resource development, green and low-carbon transformation, and high-end equipment manufacturing.
It is reported that 2024 QMS continues with the theme “Multinationals and China”. Over 550 representatives from 451 multinationals attended the summit.
