The 2024 China’s Coal Mine Intelligent Innovation Contest & the Intelligent Coal Mining Work Face Construction Achievement Release Ceremony was recently held in Beijing. After preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds, as verified by the contest committee, a total of 74 intelligent coal mining faces were evaluated. 16 work faces of SDE were selected and awarded. Notably, special-level prizes were conferred on its Binhu Coal Mine, Dongtan Coal Mine, Zhuanlongwan Coal Mine, Shuangxin Mining, and Jinjitan Coal Mine.
Li Yanjiang, Party Secretary of China National Coal Association, stated that the Contest for coal mining work faces is a targeted and pragmatic initiative proposed by the Association to align with its strategic position. We must take this opportunity to deepen intelligent coal mine construction, integrate better into the new development paradigm, and promote corporate transformation, upgrading, and sustainable development.
Li Wei, Party Secretary and Chairman of SDE, remarked that in recent years, the company has remained firm in the philosophy of “fewer workers underground for greater safety, efficiency, reliability, and practicality”. Building on the results of intelligent construction and the regular operation of systems, SDE will continue to seek breakthroughs in this future sector. "Moving forward, SDE will deepen exchanges and cooperation with peer enterprises and research institutions, harness technological innovation to accelerate the development of new-quality productive forces, and co-create an intelligent ecosystem running through the innovation and industrial chains. It is important to explore new paths and models, until realizing broader, deeper, and higher-quality intelligentization."
Xiao Tongshe, a bureau-level official of the National Mine Safety Administration, said that the Administration will advance intelligent coal mine construction, release a white paper on coal mine intelligentization and unveil specific standards for intelligent work face construction. Additionally, efforts will be boosted in scientific research with a newly-established Key R&D Catalog for Mining Robots to accelerate the development and application of coal mine robotics.
Liu Feng, Vice Chairman of the China National Coal Association, highlighted that achieving intelligent and high-quality development in the coal mining sector requires joint efforts from experts in this industry and beyond. He stressed that we must enhance the operational quality of existing coal mining work faces, achieve breakthroughs in intelligent development, and think out of the box in talent cultivation.
