As Chinese New Year draws near, Shandong Energy Group extends its heartfelt greetings, highest respect, and Spring Festival wishes to all our employees working outside the headquarter region and your families!
Harking back to 2024, we stood shoulder to shoulder and surmounted formidable challenges. Amid a complex, volatile global economic landscape and profound adjustments in the energy market, the Group united as one, forged ahead with determination, and thus maintained steady growth. Our economic size, profitability, and brand profile continue to be taking a lead among all Shandong SOEs and across China’s energy sector. Our presence in other provinces beyond Shandong and in other countries beyond China have achieved stunning success, making outstanding contributions to the our high-quality development and serving as the "spearhead" and "bridgehead" for our endeavour to grow into a world-class enterprise.
Over the past year, our external development thrived with diversified industries. Seizing the opportunities presented by green energy transformation and regional collaboration, we expanded nationwide and worldwide from our Shandong base step-by-step, boosting industrial diversification and upgrading. Our production volumes from coal, chemical, and power sectors outside Shandong base accounted for 75%, 45%, and 51% of the Group’s total. New energy installed capacity both under construction and in operation represents 51% of the total. The energy layout is increasingly taking shape, with the productivity from other provinces outside Shandong surpassing that from overseas, followed by that within Shandong itself.
Over the past year, key regions for external development advanced in coordination. Domestically, our bases in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi-Gansu, and Xinjiang have fostered robust industrial clusters for coal, chemicals, electric power, and new energy, while innovation hubs in Shanghai, Hainan, and Guizhou continued to flourish. Internationally, we vigorously vied upward along global industrial chains: coal output in Australia grew steadily; gold and copper resources in South America were developed in a phased manner; key breakthroughs were made in resource exploration in Central Asia; partnerships with global giants like Saudi Aramco and Komatsu Mining were deepened; Germany’s SMT Scharf AG was successfully acquired. All these above increased our international influence and say.
Over the past year, external development gained tremendous momentum. All the employees working outside carried forward the “six virtues”. With a can-do spirit, you were devoted to technical progress by overcoming numerous bottleneck challenges. You worked tirelessly to grow the market and polish the Shandong Energy brand. You patiently navigated administrative procedures to achieve multiple breakthroughs. You meticulously developed projects to reinforce regional demonstration bases. All these exemplified a new chapter in the Group’s second wave of external development.
Meanwhile, your understanding families back home selflessly played a supporting role, bearing household burdens in obscurity, providing unwavering care and encouragement, and empowering you in return to tackle new hardships. You and your families are the Group’s strongest pillar, warmest solace, and greatest drivers. For this, Shandong Energy Group expresses its deepest gratitude!
In the coming year, we called on all colleagues outside to uphold the “six virtues”, and acted as pioneers of innovation, navigators of implementation, and bellwethers of reforms, so as to advance our external development with greater pride and brilliance. Altogether, let us contribute more to building a clean energy supplier and world-class enterprise!
