As the snake sways to celebrate the new year, spring brings more warmth to the world. Hereby, I extend my sincere greetings to all still-in-duty staff during the Spring Festival! I also express my highest respect to all those who have dedicated themselves to our development in Shandong, China and even the world over the past year! My warmest Chinese New Year wishes go to all employees, your family members, retirees, as well as all leaders and friends from all walks of life who are always following and supporting the reform and developments of Shandong Energy Group.
2024 was an extraordinary year which was unusual, uneasy and unforgettable. We have earnestly fulfilled the "three major responsibilities" of SOEs in politics, economy, and society. Catching the opportunities of reform, practicing innovation and forging ahead with determination, we have delivered inspiring development results.
In 2024, we bore in mind "major national tasks" by taking heavy responsibilities and boldly advancing missions. We courageously undertook the principal responsibility of "one guarantee & two optimizations", making all-out efforts to boost performance and seek growth. We focused on our pillar-industry investments, completing a series of key projects, including Wanfu Coal Mine, Taian Port's road-rail-river logistics park, and a perovskite photovoltaic cell production line.
We achieved record-high coal and chemicals output since the merger, with our economic size, profitability, and brand profile taking a lead among all Shandong provincial SOEs and across China’s energy sector. We ranked 23rd in China Top 500 Companies and 75th in Fortune Global 500.
This year, we were undeterred by hardships, while our determination to fight grew stronger instead. Despite a complicated economic environment, declining markets for main products, and heavy reform tasks, our 200,000-strong staff have pushed forward against all odds. With a focus on concrete actions, we have spared no effort to strengthen management, tap into potential, improve quality and efficiency, break bottlenecks, reduce costs, increase benefits, dispose of zombie companies, revitalize idle assets, and obtain approvals. All these efforts have yielded significant results, with high-quality development progressing steadily and sustainably.
Hard work is the brush to paint a beautiful landscape. Looking back on 2024, everyone has met challenges head-on and found a way out. Management personnel have remained true to their mission; front-line employees have shown unabated dedication; staff working outside have made personal sacrifices; technicians have figured out tough problems; model workers have been pursuing the best out of the best. Each person at different position has worked tirelessly, driven by ambition and resilience. They are writing the blueprint for high-quality development with every effort and shaping the future of a world-class enterprise with every contribution. Here, I express my deepest gratitude to all of you!
Upon the wind rises and the tide surges, we must set sail and navigate challenges ahead. 2025 is a crucial year for the completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan. It is a year of breakthrough for Shandong, as it strives to take a lead and carry heavy responsibilities. It is also of critical importance for Shandong Energy Group, as we deepen integration and move faster to be a world-class enterprise.
We will resolutely implement the deployments from the government above, remain strategically firmed, actively respond to crises and challenges, and execute the "Five Integrations and Enhancements" in industrial restructuring, human resources, structural layout, risk control, and party building.
We will support our main business, deepen reforms, drive innovation, optimize operations, strengthen risk control, and advocate party-building principles. Based on that, we will foster more new-quality productive forces and ensure the successful completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan, bringing more benefits to our staff and writing a new chapter in green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
Let us be guided by Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, hold fast to the belief that “confidence is worth more than gold”, carry forward the spirit of “victory belongs to the brave swordsman when encountering each other”, keep a work-style of “rigorous, honest, detailed, practical and efficient”, and strive to "lead the way" and "carry heavy burdens". Furthermore, let us move toward becoming a clean energy supplier and a world-class enterprise, contributing more Shandong Energy wisdom and strength to the "Shandong Practice" of Chinese path to modernization.
