On July 21, Shandong Energy called on launching meeting on preparation of work proposal under Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality. In order to implement China’s Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality, Shandong Energy will fully carry out the preparation of work proposal for Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality. All departments and subsidiaries of the Group were required to work together for the proposal with broad horizon, high standard and high quality, so as to speed up building a global clean energy supplier and a world-class energy enterprise.
Li Wei, Secretary of CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Chairman of Shandong Energy, said Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality was a significant decision made by the Central CPC Committee under the leadership by Xi Jinping after careful deliberation, is an extensive and profound economic and social system reform. Shandong Energy, as one of the backbone energy enterprise of Shandong province, shall undertake Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality as its major and prime task. All departments and subsidiaries of the Group shall clearly understand the significance of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality and unified their thoughts and actions under the same strategic deployment.
Li Wei pointed out, the work proposal for Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality is the key means to realize the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality targets. Clear idea and target, close attention to key links, overall planning, scientific schedule, roadmap and working plan are required to guarantee the work results. By the end of the fourteenth five-year plan, Shandong Energy shall fulfil the advanced level across China coal industry in terms of carbon emission and the control over total energy consumption and total social electricity consumption, and strive to realize carbon emission peak by 2025 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
Li Wei required the preparation work to closely follow the industry development trend and meet the needs of low-carbon transformation in order to promote a safe, green, intelligent and efficient coal industry; a value-enhancing, high-end cluster coal chemical industry; a clean, low-carbon, and diversified new energy industry; a supply and demand chain strengthened upstream and downstream industry. Through the coordinated promotion of the selection of consulting agencies, ground investigations, benchmarking research, and preparation of action plans, Shandong Energy will formulate "one main and three attached", namely the overall action plan, key industries and key secondary companies' action plans, and supporting implementation program.
Li Wei emphasized that achieving the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" is related to the overall strategy of the Group's high-quality and sustainable development. The Group must use the power of the whole group to make a single-minded, and go all out to prepare and implement the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality " action plan. All departments and subsidiaries of the Group should strengthen organization and leadership, consolidate work responsibilities, and strictly assess rewards and punishments to ensure the high-quality completion of the action plan.
Liu Yuanchao, Member of the CPC Shandong Energy Standing Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Committee and Provincial Inspector, chaired the meeting, and Yue Jianghua, Member of the CPC Shandong Energy Standing Committee and Deputy General Manager of Shandong Energy announced the preparation work plan.
The meeting was held via video conference. The general manager assistants and the vice executives of Shandong Energy, the heads of the departments (centers) of the headquarter, the people in charge of the level-two subsidiaries (the subordinates) attended the meeting.
