On November 7, a parallel forum for the 5th China Enterprise Forum was successfully held in Jinan. Li Wei, the Secretary of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee and Chairman of SDE, attended the forum as an invited keynote speaker.
Li Wei said that world-class enterprises are not only the manifestation of a nation’s economy strength, advanced science & technology as well as international competitiveness but also the key force in leading global industrial development and technological innovation. In response to Opinions on Accelerating the Cultivation of World-Class Enterprises composed by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, SDE has formulated and implemented the Opinions on Comprehensively Carrying Out the Quality and Efficiency Improvement Project to Achieve High-Quality Development under the deployment of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Shandong Provincial People’s Government, in which SDE clarifies its vision of “being a global clean energy supplier and world-class enterprise” and defines its mission as “developing clean energy to lead energy revolution”. SDE will strive to be a global clean energy supplier and world-class enterprise with the goal of both total assets and operating revenues hitting RMB1 trillion respectively by the end of the “14th Five-Year Plan” (2021-2025) and promote China’s Modernization in such an approach.
Li Wei requested that SDE should view “products excellence, brand influence, innovative ability and modernized enterprise governance” as the key benchmarks in cultivating the world-class enterprise and should further enhance its “five capabilities” on the basis of system guarantee. First, SDE will enhance its innovative capability to take the lead in industrial transformation. SDE shall strive to seize new heights in scientific and technological R&D, set new benchmarks for digital transformation and promote revolution in intelligent manufacturing so as to forge the “powerful engine” that drives the cultivation of a world-class enterprise. Second, SDE will strengthen its capability of integrating resources globally. In an active response to the “Belt and Road Initiative”, SDE should integrate into the “dual circulation” development pattern that is focused on the domestic economy and features positive interplay between domestic and international economic flows, coordinate and make good use of both domestic and international markets and resources and realize the global allocation of capital, resources, technology and talents so as to consolidate the “key support”for building a world-class enterprise. Third, SDE will amplify its capacity to support the real economy. SDE will take further steps to replace old growth drivers with new ones, assume the responsibilities for ensuring the security of coal supply, transforming and upgrading the chemical industry, optimizing the power structure, and building new energy development platforms. Thus, the “value positioning” of building a world-class enterprise is clearly pinpointed. Fourth, SDE will enhance its capability to increase the brand value. By polishing the SDE brand in the capital market and forging the SDE brand in terms of product quality, SDE will hold firmly in hand the “key” to the successful building of a world-class enterprise. Fifth, SDE will consolidate the capacity in modern corporate governance. By creating a modern corporate governance and management mechanism with effective checks and balances, as well as efficient coordination, and integrating into the robust and vital modern enterprise market mechanism, SDE will strengthen the “fundamental guarantee” for building a world-class enterprise.
Li Wei stressed that guided by the instructions from the 20th CPC National Congress, SDE will remain committed to mission of advancing China’s modernization, shoulder its responsibilities as a major SOE and actively conduct cooperation with the first class enterprises from China and beyond with international visions and standards. Based in Shandong, SDE is committed to expanding both domestic and international markets. Upholding the core values of “safe, innovative, green, accountable & excellent”, SDE will accelerate its pace to be a clean energy supplier and world-class enterprise, and comprehensively enhance its competitiveness, innovative capability, corporate governance , company influence and risks resistance capacity, so as to facilitate China’s modernization.
