Renowned as the Oscars of China's economic community, the award ceremony of "Top 10 Economic Figures of the Year in 2022" was held in Beijing on January 6. Li Wei, Secretary of the CPC Shandong Energy Committee, Chairman of SDE and Chairman of Yankuang Energy Group, was elected as "2022 China Economic Figure of the Year". Liang Jiakun, President of China National Coal Association and Ren Zeping, a well-known economist, conferred this award on Li Wei.
Liang said that Shandong Energy Group and Yankuang Energy Group have set a shining example for Chinese coal industry. He extended congratulations to Li Wei for becoming the first-ever person to win such award in the coal industry. This is not only a personal honor, but also an honor for the whole industry.
Liang continued that coal mining is a painstaking, high-risk industry and coal miners toil everyday. General Secretary Xi Jinping once said that coal miners work underground all year round without sunshine, but bring wealth, civilization and light to society, instead. Li Wei takes it as his original aspiration to strengthen the enterprise to serve the country, and commits himself to ensuring national energy security. What he promotes is the great spirit of coal mining, selfless dedication and the ability to fight. Hopefully, this spirit can inspire all people across the industry!
Li Wei said in his speech that “2022 China Economic Figure of the Year” marks an honor for not only myself but also the 230,000-strong workforce of the whole Group. This honor is first attributed to the energy industry. This represents the high recognition for the energy industry and its role as the ballast and stabilizer of economic development.
Amid China's Energy Transformation, the "Carbon Peaking & Carbon Neutrality" policy has been formulated and implemented, which has posed a daunting task to Shandong Energy. Given that China is rich in coal, scarce in oil and gas, SDE must shoulder its responsibilities as a major SOE, achieve the clean and efficient utilization of coal and extend the coal industry chain. Adhering to its core values of Safety, Innovation, Green, Intelligence and Accountability, SDE strives to gradually develop itself into a mega-sized and comprehensive energy enterprise.
This honor shall go to Shandong SOEs. As a Shandong-based SOE, SDE has taken the lead in all reforms among its peers in Shandong after implementing the three-year action plan for the reform of SOEs, which could not have been achieved without the support and guidance from the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, the Shandong Provincial People's Government as well as Shandong SASAC. SDE has actively implemented its "going global" strategy, participated in the "Belt and Road" Initiative, and successfully developed into an international mining group.
This honor also goes all SDE staff members, especially the coal miners. Premier Zhou Enlai once said that those, who shows unusual resilience, strong will for fighting hardships, and the will of dedication, are the coal miners. For all those years, the staff members and the management of SDE has kept up with me for the company's development. This is a heavy honor, shared by all the SDE staff, showcasing the acknowledgement for the contribution of all the coal miners.
In the next stage, Shandong Energy and Yankuang Energy will shoulder more responsibilities as major SOEs, enhance efforts in green, low-carbon and high-quality development, continue to increase production, guarantee supply and stabilize price, strive to be a clean energy supplier and world-class energy enterprise and open a new chapter of high-quality development for SDE.
